The winning participants attended the official celebrations in Shediac and received their prizes from Lieut-Gov. Hermenigilde Chiasson, Premier Shawn Graham and Finance Minister Victor Boudreau.

The winners are: Liam Sipkema of Midland in the anglophone writing category ages 12-18; Marie-Pier Martin of Shediac in the francophone writing category ages 12-18; Ashley Greer of Rothesay in the francophone drawing category ages 12-18; Pénélope Bouchard of Kedgwick in the francophone drawing category ages 5-11; Hillary Ross of Boiestown in the anglophone drawing category ages 12-18; and, Junho Yim of Fredericton in the anglophone drawing category ages 5-11.

Each first-place winner was given an all-expenses paid one-day, one-night vacation to a variety of destinations across New Brunswick which were designed to show the winners another area of their province.

The winners also received a framed copy of their submission.

Liam Sipkema's winning essay discussed the many opportunities New Brunswickers have.

"One of the most important things in our culture is how we accept who others are, or want to be," he wrote.
